Γλωσσιώτης ήρωας υπασπιστής του Πολεμικού Ναυτικού. Έπεσε υπέρ της πατρίδας στις πολεμικές επιχειρήσεις του 1964 στην Κύπρο. Η περίοδος 1964-1974 ήταν ταραχώδης και σημαδεύτηκε με ρήξη στις σχέσεις των Ελληνοκυπρίων και των Τουρκοκυπρίων στον κοινωνικό και στον πολιτικό τομέα. Το 1963, οι Τουρκοκύπριοι αποχώρησαν (εθελοντικά και υπό πίεση της Τουρκίας) από την Κυβέρνηση της Κύπρου, με αποτέλεσμα να προκληθούν ταραχές στη Λευκωσία. Το 1964, η Εθνική Φρουρά παρενέβη στρατιωτικά εναντίον μιας αντιληπτής τουρκοκυπριακής στρατιωτικής απειλής στα βορειοδυτικά του νησιού και κοντά στον θύλακα στα Κόκκινα, με αποτέλεσμα να βρεθεί σε σύρραξη με την Τουρκία.

Nikolaos Kapadroukas

A hero from Glossa and aide-de-camp of the Hellenic Navy. He fell in service to his country during the military operations of 1964 In Cyprus. The period from 1964 to 1974 was turbulent and marked by a breakdown in relations between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots in both social and political spheres.

In 1963, the Turkish Cypriots withdrew (voluntarily and under pressure from Turkey) from the Government of Cyprus, resulting in unrest in Nicosia. In 1964, the National Guard militarily intervened against a perceived Turkish Cypriot military threat in the northwest of the island near the Kokkina enclave, leading to a conflict with Turkey.
