Πρόκειται για ενοριακό ναό, τριτόκλιτο, κτισμένος σε ήδη προϋπάρχον ναό. Το τέμπλο του ανάγεται στα τέλη του 19ου αιώνα (1880), είναι κατασκευασμένο από μάρμαρα Τήνου (δυο αποχρώσεων), έχει συνολικά 8 εικόνες και ανήκει στον τριμερή υψηλό τύπο, με μήκος 11 μέτρα και ύψος 5,52 μέτρα.  Για την κατασκευή του τοίχου που στηρίζει το τέμπλο χρησιμοποιήθηκαν λαξευμένοι μαρμάρινοι λίθοι. Κατασκευαστής του τέμπλου ο Γ. Καπαριάς (μαρμαρογλύπτης). Το 1837 εφημέριος του ναού ήταν ο παπά- Αντώνιος.

Στην εικόνα, που έφεραν από τον Άγιο Ιωάννη στο Καστρί και βρίσκεται στο Ιερό βήμα του ναού της Κοίμησης της Θεοτόκου, αναγράφεται: «Ο ΤΟΝ ΣΥΝΔΡΟΜΗΤΗΝ ΚΑΙ ΕΞΟΔΟΠΗΟΥΝΤΑ ΚΥΡΙΑ/ ΘΕΟΤΟΚΕ ΒΟΙΘΙ ΩΝΔΤΣΝΤΙΝΟΥ ΡΑΦΤΑΚΗ/ Ο ΓΡΑΨΑΣ ΤΑΠΗΝΟΣ ΙΩΑΝΝΗΣ ΤΟΥ ΜΙΧΑΙ¨ΛΟΥ ΤΟΥ ΠΟΥΛΑΚΙΝΟΥ/ ΈΤΟΣ 1690».

Dormition of the Theotokos

This is a parish church, three-aisled, built on the site of a pre-existing older church. Its iconostasis dates back to the late 19th century (1880) and is made from marble sourced from Tinos in two different shades. The iconostasis has a total of 8 icons and belongs to the high three-part type, measuring 11 meters in length and 5.52 meters in height. For the construction of the supporting wall for the iconostasis, hewn marble stones were used. The iconostasis was crafted by the marble sculptor G. Kaparias.

In 1837, the parish priest of the church was Father Antonios.

The icon, brought from Agios Ioannis at Kastrí and located in the sanctuary of the Dormition of the Theotokos church, bears the inscription:

“O Mother of God, Helper and Protector, help Ondontinos Raftakis, the painter, son of Michail Poulakinos, who painted this icon, year 1690.”
