Με  τη συμπλήρωση των διακοσίων χρόνων από την έναρξη της Ελληνικής Επανάστασης και σε αναγνώριση της συμμετοχής της Σκοπέλου στην Α’ Εθνοσυνέλευση της Επιδαύρου, που πραγματοποιήθηκε στην Πιάδα, το Δημοτικό Λιμενικό Ταμείο Σκοπέλου, με πρωτοβουλία του Προέδρου Άγγελου Ξηντάρη, τοποθέτησε αναθηματική στήλη από μάρμαρο.

Στις τέσσερις πλευρές του μνημείου είναι χαραγμένα τα ονόματα των πολιτών της νήσου Σκοπέλου που έδωσαν τη ζωή τους για την Ελευθερία, τόσο στη στεριά όσο και στη θάλασσα, καθώς και του Ζαχαρία Παναγιωτίδη, ο οποίος εκπροσώπησε τη Σκόπελο ως πληρεξούσιος στην Α’ Εθνοσυνέλευση. Το έργο αυτό αποτελεί φόρο τιμής και αιώνιας ευγνωμοσύνης προς όσους συνέβαλαν με θάρρος και αυταπάρνηση στον εθνικό ξεσηκωμό.

Monument to the Heroes of 1821 in Skopelos

n the occasion of the bicentennial of the outbreak of the Greek War of Independence and in recognition of Skopelos’ participation in the First National Assembly of Epidaurus, which took place in Piada, the Municipal Port Fund of Skopelos, under the initiative of its President, Angelos Xintaris, erected a commemorative marble column.

On the four sides of the monument are engraved the names of the citizens of the island of Skopelos who gave their lives for Freedom, both on land and at sea, as well as that of Zacharias Panagiotidis, who represented Skopelos as a delegate at the First National Assembly.

This monument stands as a tribute and a lasting expression of gratitude to those who contributed with courage and self-sacrifice to the national uprising.
